Day-by-Day Itinerary
Day 1
DELHI TO PITHORAGARH (500 KM / ~11 HRS)
From the plains of Delhi, the journey begins towards the Kumaon Himalayas. As the highways transition into winding mountain roads, the landscape shifts dramatically into pine forests, deep valleys, and scenic hill drives. Arrive in Pithoragarh, the gateway to Kumaon’s most remote regions.
Day 2
PITHORAGARH TO DHARCHULA (100 KM / ~3 HRS)
Drive along the scenic Kali River valley as you move closer to the Indo-Nepal border. Surrounded by dense forests and towering mountains, reach Dharchula - a quiet Himalayan town that serves as the base for your expedition into the inner regions.
Day 3
DHARCHULA TO LAPTHAL VALLEY (60 KM / ~6-7 HRS)
The real adventure begins as you leave the main roads behind. Navigate through rugged BRO tracks, river crossings, and broken mountain trails to reach the hidden Lapthal Valley. This remote landscape offers raw Himalayan beauty and a true off-grid camping experience.
Day 4
RIMKHIM PASS ATTEMPT - RETURN TO DHARCHULA (70 KM / FULL DAY)
Start early for the high-altitude push towards Rimkhim Pass. The route tests both driver and machine with technical terrain, steep climbs, and unpredictable conditions. Reach as close as permitted to the Indo-Tibet border before descending back to Dharchula after an intense day of exploration.
Day 5
DHARCHULA TO DARMA VALLEY (70 KM / ~5-6 HRS)
Shift from rugged terrain to scenic beauty as you enter Darma Valley. Drive through charming Himalayan villages, flowing rivers, and open landscapes leading towards Dantu and Duktu villages, with stunning views of the Panchachuli range.
Day 6
PANCHACHULI TREK - RETURN TO PITHORAGARH
Begin the day with a short trek offering breathtaking views of the Panchachuli peaks. After soaking in the beauty of Darma Valley, descend back towards Pithoragarh, carrying memories of one of the most diverse Himalayan landscapes.
Day 7
PITHORAGARH TO DELHI (500 KM / ~10-11 HRS)
Bid farewell to the mountains as you drive back towards Delhi. The journey concludes, but the experience of exploring Kumaon’s hidden frontier stays with you long after the road ends.
